American Legion Post Does Excellent Job of Recognizing Memorial Day
May 31, 2017
The American Legion Post 416 in Greendale, Wisconsin has once again done a stellar job in remembering our fallen. This post, which is part of a greater community called Greendale, has been very active in the Memorial Day parade and special programs held in the Auditorium at Greendale High School. Greendale is a very patriotic town.
While I was unable to attend the parade and program at the high school, I would be glad to post pictures on this page from anyone who has had the opportunity. I can tell you that in the past, residents lined the streets in anticipation of the parade and then packed into the high school auditorium to witness a special events put on by The American Legion, the Greenfield JROTC, the Greendale Orchestra, and leadership members in the community. The program ends with the placement of wreaths, the playing of Taps and finally the firing of rifles.
Following all of this, literally hundreds of hungry people race over to the Legion Hall where delicious pancakes, waffles, sausages, coffee, juice, await the most discerning palate. As far as the Legion is concerned, it doesn't get any better than this with all the food and camaraderie. What a great way to show that we indeed remember our fallen. Thank you for a free America!
